Breathing Cards
Breathe in. Breathe out. Our new calming cards are a tangible sensory tool to help anyone focus on breathing during high stress moments.
Breathing slowly and deeply can calm your mind and make your body feel more relaxed.
Simply trace the shape and follow the guides to breathe in and out. The cards are printed on thick laminated material that can easily be cleaned and stored in a bag, desk or locker.

Underage Drinking Prevention
What we know about underage drinking in Huron Valley
We’re happy to report that 79% of Huron Valley high school students choose to avoid drinking alcohol. Further, we’ve seen a steady decrease in youth alcohol use over the past 6 years.
Still, alcohol remains the most likely drug of choice among teens. Drinking can cause long-term health problems. It also puts youth at higher risk for poor school performance, automobile accidents and crime. It is vitally important for us to do what we can prevent its use.
Surveys of high school students, parents and local law enforcement officers indicate that the most likely place for youth to get and use alcohol is at home or a friend’s home. The Huron Valley Community Coalition is providing two items to change that tamper-resistant tape for alcohol containers and at-home alcohol test strips. Let’s work together to help young people avoid alcohol and make it clear - underage drinking is unacceptable.

Why we are so concerned about youth substance use
Some reasons for concern are obvious, like the dangers of drunk driving and the long-term effects of smoking. Other issues are not common knowledge and more dangerous than one might think. For example, as many states consider legalizing marijuana, use among youth increases, creating a great risk to a developing brain.
It is our goal to make sure everyone in our school district has the information needed to make safer decisions regarding alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
